How to Prepare for Your Exams

  • Do Not Panic – easier said than done but by far the most important tip! – nothing productive will come out of stress
  • Make a Timetable –  breaking down your workload makes it more manageable & less daunting
  • Eat Healthy Foods – to keep your immune system up so you don’t feel sluggish or get sick
  • Treat Yourself (in moderation) – you’ve stuck to your timetable all week- bake a cake or go out with friends
  • Exercise – even going for a walk will help to clear your mind, give you some much needed endorphins, and increase the levels of oxygen going to your brain
  • Get at Least 8 Hours of Sleep – when you are tired you will be unable to concentrate
  • Use Colours – highlighters, felt pens, crayons; colour makes the information more appealing, and using different colours for different things will help you to differentiate all the info
  • Do Every Past Paper – or at least the hardest questions of each one – you’ll get to know how the examiners think
  • Turn off Your Phone – it is a distraction and will just lead to wasted hours
  • Use Different Styles of Revision – note taking, highlighting, listening to notes, watching educational YouTube videos, doing past papers, mind maps, learning definitions
  • Be Prepared – know when your exam is and set mini goals to achieve before the date
